Eagles fire McDermott

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired defensive coordinator Sean McDermott a week after being eliminated from the NFL playoffs.

McDermott was the team’s coordinator for just a couple of seasons, taking over for the late Jim Johnson.

Philadelphia’s defense struggled at times this season, but it’s a surprising move given what little talent the Eagles have on the defensive side of the ball.

The Eagles also lost linebacker Stewart Bradley down the stretch, and he was their leader in the middle.

It seems that the Eagles needed a scapegoat for their first-round flameout and pinned it on McDermott.
