Vick may stay after all

As training camp nears, it’s getting more and more likely now that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will remain with the team.

It seemed like it was just a few weeks ago when it seemed like the axe would drop on Vick at any moment.

However, things have cooled down in the last few weeks and it seems like the shooting incident may now blow over.

The bottom line is that the Eagles need to win football games and they don’t have a viable backup for Kevin Kolb if they cut McNabb. (Read More…)

Kolb motivated to disprove doubters

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb is motivated to prove all of his doubters wrong this season.

There is an incredible amount of pressure on the quarterback’s shoulders given what is at stake.

If Kolb fails in Philadelphia, it will mean that the team fails to be a playoff contender and that a number of changes on the way. (Read More…)

Vick can’t travel out of state

A judge has ruled that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick cannot travel out of the state, even for work.

The ruling comes after Vick was near a shooting that involved a man who he was ordered to stay away from.

This makes Vick’s future with the Eagles even more uncertain that it already was following the incident. (Read More…)

McNabb warns of Philly boos

When Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb played in Philadelphia, there was plenty of booing directed at the home team.

McNabb felt that the booing was directed at him a lot of the time, something he said will be a big change in Philadelphia.

The quarterback warned his former teammates that he will no longer be around to take the heat. (Read More…)

Weaver a forgotten man?

Philadelphia Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver is coming off a strong 2009 season, but will he see less time in 2010?

The fullback is concerned his carries may be diminshed with the arrivial of veteran running back Mike Bell.

Bell saw a lot of time as the goaline and short-yardage back with the New Orleans Saints last season.

The Eagles did release running back Brian Westbrook, but LeSean McCoy is expected to take over as the starter.

Weaver is anticipating that McCoy and Bell will split a lot of carries and he will get a chance to carry the ball once in awhile.

Eagles to face McNabb Oct. 3 and Nov. 15

By Bud L. Ellis

Oct. 3 at home. Nov. 15 on the road.

Those are the two dates where Philadelphia Eagles’ fans will see former Eagles’ QB Donovan McNabb try to beat his former team.

The National Football League has released game dates and times for the 2010 season. Those two dates are when Philly takes on the Washington Redskins, where McNabb was dealt this offseason.

The season begins at home game Sept. 12 vs. Green Bay. Philly then plays road games at Detroit and at Jacksonville before McNabb and the Redskins come to town Oct. 3. The Eagles then play two of the next three away from home, at San Francisco on Sunday Night Football on Oct. 10 and at Tennessee Oct. 24, with a home game on Oct. 17 against the Falcons.

After the bye week Oct. 31, Philly faces AFC champion Indianapolis Colts Nov. 7 at home. The next matchup with McNabb and Washington is a road game on Monday Night Football on Nov. 15, followed with a Sunday Night Football home game with the New York Giants on Nov. 21 and a trip to Chicago on Nov. 28.

Two prime-time games kick off December: a home game against Houston on Thursday Night Football Dec. 2, and a Sunday Night Football matchup at NFC East champion Dallas on Dec. 12. The final road game of the season is Dec. 19 at the Giants. Philly ends the regular season with a pair of home games: vs. Minnesota on Dec. 26 and against the Cowboys on Jan. 2.

Teams after McNabb

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is drawing more interest as the NFL Draft gets closer.

The Eagles said they have been entertaining offers on their quarterbacks for a couple of months now.

However, they much prefer to move Michael Vick over McNabb or Kevin Kolb, but there is little interest in the left-handed quarterback.

The Eagles have shown no interest in moving Kolb, who they see as the eventual successor to McNabb.

Eagles top brass wants to move McNabb, but so far head coach Andy Reid has turned them away.

Eagles to face robust home schedule in 2010

By Bud L. Ellis

Two games against the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys are on the schedule again this season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

But there are other of tough matchups to navigate through if the Eagles hope to return to the postseason.

The National Football League has released its list of home games and road games for the upcoming season; dates and times will be determined later this spring.

Philadelphia, which went 0-3 against the Cowboys last season (including a loss in the opening round of the playoffs) plays four postseason qualifiers at home – and three more games against teams that finished above .500. Along with Dallas, playoff teams from last year playing at Philadelphia this season are AFC champion Indianapolis, NFC North champion and conference runner-up Minnesota, and NFC wild-card team Green Bay.

The Eagles also play host to two 9-7 teams, Atlanta and Houston, and the New York Giants (8-8). Only Washington at 4-12 is an under .500 team to come to Philadelphia this season.

The road schedule is nowhere near as tough, as the only game against a playoff team is the trip to Dallas. The rest of the schedule features games at the Giants, Washington, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Jacksonville and Tennessee.

Philadelphia’s schedule ranks ninth in the NFL for difficulty, based on opponents’ winning percentage last season.
